On this day in 1959, former Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, Gideon Gono was born. Gono is a proprietor of the financial Gazette, Zimbabwes oldest private newspaper. In November 2008, Gono published a book titled, ‘Zimbabwes Casino Economy’. His book depicts several thematic concerns of economic and social malaise for the period of 2003-2008.
On this day in 2003, former Governor of Zimbabwe, Gideon Gono was appointed to head the RBZ central bank. In his speech, he pointed out that he was going to undertook money-targeting framework as the monetary policy strategy and consequently set up a framework for liquidity management.
On this day in 2013, the owner of the financial Gazette in Zimbabwe, Gideon Gono stepped down from serving as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ).
