Gideon Gono was appointed governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe

On this day in 2003, former Governor of Zimbabwe, Gideon Gono was appointed to head the RBZ central bank. In his speech, he pointed out that he was going to undertook money-targeting framework as the monetary policy strategy and consequently set up a framework for liquidity management.
