Chenjerai Hove was born on this day in 1956. Chenjerai was a renowned Zimbabwean poet, novelist and essayist. He was born in Mazvihwa near Zvishavane and his father was a chief.

Hove was a freedom fighter and for this reason he advocated for human rights in his native country. In 1988, he published a novel, “Bones” and the main thematic concerns were directed to separation. In 1987, he was awarded as one of the best Zimbabwean writers.
