The late Zimbabwean writer Charles Mungoshi was born

On this day in 1947, the late Zimbabwean writer, Charles Mungoshi was born. Mungoshi’s works included short stories and novels in both Shona and English. As a poetry writer, he wrote about post-colonial oppression in Africa. In 1992 Mungoshi won Noma Award and the Commonwealth Writers Prize (Africa Region) twice in the years 1988 and 1998.
