On this day in 1959, politician Francis Nhema was born in Shurugwi, Zimbabwe. Francis Nhema became active in politics in 1975 and was a member of ZANU-PF. Under the Government of National Unity, he was appointed minister on Environment and Tourism (2009-2013). In 2013, he was appointed Minister of Youth Development, Indegenisation and Empowerment, he was suspended from this post after he was accused of planning to overthrow then president Robert Mugabe.
