The late Zimbabwean dendera music artist, vocalist and guitarist Simon Chimbetu was born

On this day in 1955, the late Zimbabwean Dendera Music Artist, Vocalist, Guitarist and a Performer was born in Harare, Zimbabwe. He was part of a group of children that were abducted during the liberation struggle. Simon started to launch his career in the late 1970s, together with his brother Naison. His music was viewed as a new style of Chimurenga music as most of his thematic concerns were centrered on the struggle of Pan-Africanism.
