On this day on Friday 08 January 2021, award winning journalist Hopewell Chin’ono was arrested and took to court. Chin’ono was charged for ‘publishing and communicating false statements prejudicial to the state’. He had posted a story on twitter patterning an incident that a police officer assaulted a women in Harare’s central business district whilst in trying to enforce Covid-19 rules.
