Zimbabwean human rights advocate Pius Ncube was born

On this day in 1946, Zimbabwean Human Rights advocate Pius Ncube was born in Filabusi. On the 11th of September 2007, he resigned as the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Bulawayo. On 23 October 2003, he received human Right Award for speaking against the late former President of Zimbabwe Robert Gabriel Mugabe‘s tyranny government. In doing so, he acted as the voice for the voiceless. After the march in 2005, Ncube repeated his call for a peaceful rebellion saying that he was to pray that Mugabe will by all means step down from power. In early 2005, minister Nathan Shamuyarira reffered Ncube as a mad and inveterate liar.
