On this day in 1923, Rhodesia was established as a British colony with responsibility Government duties to serve. European settlers in Rhodesia who had started settling in the area in 1890 had voted self government in a referendum.
On this day in 1973, three Zambians were killed by landmines near Rhodesian border (now Zimbabwe). The following day the Government of Zambia worked with the Kenyan Government in mobilising troops and the Rhodesian Government was charged for the deaths of innocent people.
