The late Zimbabwean born journalist Dennis Vincent Brutus was born

On this day in 1924, Zimbabwean born Dennis Vincent Brutus was born in Salisbury. Brutus moved to South Africa were he give way to a series of anti-apartheid related activities. In 1963, he was arrested for 18 months for refusing to abide by the ban. Subsequently, his zeal in learning made him to pursue in lectureship after his retirement as a African Literature teacher in 1999.
