On this day in 2019, national President of the Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe Obert Masaraure was abducted. Armed man who were suspected to be police officers tortured him with rifle butts and sjamboks demanding to know the people who were funding his labor union. He was taken to Harare Central Police were he was arrested and charged for undermining the power of authority.
