The late Joshua Nkomo fled to Botswana to seek refuge
On this day in 1983, at night Joshua Nkomo (late) who was fired from government and placed under house arrest, fled to Botswana for satefy after the Fifth Brigade had been deployed in the northern part of the Matabeleland province.
