The late former Governor of Southern Rhodesia Humphrey Vicary Gibbs was born

On this day in 1902, the late Southern Rhodesia Governor Humphrey Vicary Gibbs was born. Gibbs was elected to be MP for Wankie in 1947. In the year 1964, he was a conduit for negotiations between British Government and the rebel regime and in 1965, he opposed the Unilateral Declaration of Independence.
