Nine students were arrested at Morgan Zintec Teachers College and charged for promoting public violence

On this day in 2020, students gathered on campus in a bid to protest the university conclusion of requiring students to repeat the 2019-2020 academic year. In violating section 37 of Zimbabwe’s Criminal Law act which prohibits meeting with the purpose of promoting public violence, resulted in nine of them to be arrested.

Zimbabwean athlete Wirimai Juwawo was born

On this day in 1980, Wirimai Juwawo was born. Juwawo is an athlete who competes internationally for Zimbabwe. He obtained 18th place for the men’s half marathon in the Yangzhou Jianzhen International Half Marathon in 2015. He competes in cross, half marathon and short cross. He represents the club, Shabanie Mine Athletics Club.
