The late Zimbabwean politician and former vice President Joseph Msika was born

On this day in 1923, Zimbabwean politician Joseph Wilfred Msika was born in Chiweshe Reserve, Mazoe district. In 1961, he was involved in the organisation of a successful strike. Being the reason, he lost his job and decided to set up his own business in which he started with the selling of groceries. In 1959, he was detained and arrested and whilst in prison, he met other nationalist from Nyasaland and Northern Rhodesia in which there influenced each other in political spheres. In 1979, he was a delegate to the Lancaster House Talk and he returned at their successful conclusion to fight in the elections at home for the Patriotic Front.
